Sabrina looked up at Gerald. "In truth, I don't know what I'm doing."
"Just follow your heart. Don't force yourself to overthink it," Gerald said.
She looked at him.
Gerald gave her a light pat on the back. "Alright, don't look at me with guilt in your eyes. You don't owe me anything."
She was, and always had been, free.
"You're not even going to stop by the hotel for a bit? Get something to eat before you go, okay?" Sabrina asked.
"Don't worry, I'll at least make sure you get back to the hotel," Gerald replied.
He gently lifted her into his arms and carried her toward the car.
Luton had easy access to the Southerby train, so Gerald didn't drive. Carrying Sabrina out of the ER, with a bag containing her medicine draped over his arm, he walked toward the vehicle.
Nelson stood waiting in front of the car, his black hiking jacket unzipped. His pants were still muddy from the mountain, but his posture was as sharp and strong as ever.
