A Female Alpha

••• Charlotte’s POV ••• Five days later… “Urgghhh…” I tugged at the skirt of my gown. Today was the day of the banquet my Dad had prepared for me, and I was dressed in a beautiful dark purple gown with a sweetheart neckline that showed off my cleavage nicely and which literally had diamonds scattered all over the skirt. Not that I didn't like wearing dresses. On the contrary, I loved it! But not this type of ball gown with a wide skirt. It looked good, especially when I twirled and the diamonds glittered like stars, but it was hard to move in. I had to practically lift the skirt a bit when I walked around, which was kinda annoying. The banquet was held at the Moon Crest Pack’s ballroom. Each pack usually had its own ballroom, but the Moon Crest Pack’s ballroom was famous for being the grandest if you didn't count the Alpha King’s ballroom. I walked over to the ballroom and wasn't surprised to meet Hayden. He was, after all, the Alpha of the Red Claw Pack. I caught his surprised look when he looked at me. Must be surprised to see how much I’ve changed, huh? I smirked inwardly but ignored him coldly on the outside. Nearing the ballroom, I heard many werewolves discussing and doubting me. Of course, I knew the reasons for their doubts. There had never been an heiress before, I was the first, and I wasn't surprised to hear that they thought my dad had made the wrong decision in choosing me as the next Alpha of the Moon Crest Pack. After all, she-wolves were considered weaker than their male counterparts. But I wasn't troubled by their thoughts. I would show them my true self and my real strength and that they shouldn't judge what was right or wrong with their brains driven by lower bodies. I would show them just how a she-wolf could be as powerful as a male werewolf and deserve to be an Alpha of a pack. Entering the ballroom, I caught sight of Hayden again. I stopped in my track to take his appearance in. He was dressed in a three-piece custom suit which showcased his tall, slender, yet muscular body. His hair was combed back, exposing every inch of his handsome face. If I didn't consider how heartless he was, I had to admit that Hayden was a really attractive man, which was one of the reasons I fell in love with him. Yes, he was my mate, and I did feel attracted to him because of the mate bond, but those deep dark eyes, tall and straight nose, thin lips, and chiseled jawline were the reason I fell for him. Called me shallow, vain, superficial, or any other words for loving his look, but hey, which woman wouldn't be attracted to handsome men? Unfortunately, his feelings for Sofia disgusted me. He was unfair and would always believe a pretentious bitch like Sofia rather than his own mate, and that was downright repulsive. Luckily, I had divorced, broken our mate bonds, and freed myself from his revolting unfairness. Maybe because I was observing him for too long or my gaze was too intense, he seemed to feel it. He turned to look at me, and our gazes met, but he quickly looked away. I felt a stabbing pain in my heart, and my mood shifted when I realized how much he hated me to the point that he didn't want to see me. I thought I had gotten over him, especially now that there was no matebond between us, but I guessed my thought was wrong. He, somehow, could still influence my mood strongly. This made me feel uncomfortable. “Charlotte!” Suddenly I heard a female’s voice shouting my name. I turned around to see who had the cheek to shout out my name and sneered when I saw Milla approaching me with a disgusted expression. “Milla Fallon,” I said her name with a sneer. “What are you doing here?” “What am I doing here? How dare you ask me that question! The question should be what are YOU doing here?” She then looked me up and down, and seeing my beautiful gown, she started ridiculing me. “You are able to come here because you slept with someone, right? After unmating with my brother, you actually become a sugar baby. You are such a slut!” I kept quiet and looked at her as if she was a clown. “I know you are here to get my brother back, aren't you? You should stop dreaming and being delusional! A lowly orphan like you is not worthy of my brother.” Her voice was loud enough to be heard by all the werewolves present. “Oh yeah? Then what kind of she-wolf is worthy of your brother?” I sneered. If I, an Alpha of the second-most powerful pack, was not worthy of Hayden, then who was worthy in her eyes? “Of course, the star of the party!” she said as she looked at me with contempt. “The star of the party?” I raised an eyebrow at her. “The legendary and powerful female Alpha!” She lifted her chin slightly and said smugly. I couldn't help myself from laughing out loud. If only she knew... “Milla, what are you doing?” Suddenly Hayden appeared out of nowhere. “Brother, look at this slut! She purposely came here to get you back. She must have slept with someone to get that gown and an invitation!” Milla told Hayden. “Stop it, Milla. This is not a place for you to make a scene. We are the representatives of the Red Claw Pack. Know your place,” Hayden hissed at his sister. “But brother, this slut is being delusion-” Before Milla could complete her sentence, I raised my hand and gave her a hard slap on her cheek. I felt satisfied when I saw Milla’s cheek swell with my palm prints clearly shown on it. “You should listen to your brother and know your place,” I sneered. “You... How dare you!” Milla raised her hand to slap me back, but I easily caught her wrist, stopping her. “Since you are so hell-bent on causing trouble, you should be taught a lesson. And I’m delighted to be the one teaching you,” I sneered. My hand that was grabbing Milla’s hand was suddenly held by another, and I was dragged away to a corner before I could even struggle. “You really are a slut, huh, Charlotte? Is that why we couldn't find you for so many days? Because you found someone and spread your legs to him for money?” Hayden said sarcastically with a furious expression. I pushed him away with all my might, and he staggered back a few steps, caught in surprise by my strength. “Hayden, let me remind you this. We are not mates anymore, and what I did from the moment we broke our matebond, or what I will do in the future, is none of your business,” I told him coldly. I stepped around him and called out two guards, who appeared quickly. “Throw her out,” I ordered them, pointing at Mila with my chin. The guards, of course, obeyed my commands and took each of Milla’s arms, and threw her out of the ballroom. “Charlotte, how dare you throw me out! Who do you think you are? You are no one! Do you think your sugar daddy will save you once I call out the Alpha and tell her about your behavior?” Milla kept shouting at me even though she was already thrown out of the ballroom. “Guards! Call out the Alpha! I have to tell her about this slut and how impolite she is toward the guests!” Milla tried to order my guards. My guards just stood there looking at her like she was an idiot. “What are you doing? Quick, call the Alpha! She should know that this slutty orphan has mistreated her guest!” Milla looked at my guards and ordered them again. I laughed out loud, looking at her pretending to be honorable by wanting to tell the said Alpha how she, an esteemed guest, was being mistreated by me, a slutty orphan. “What are you laughing at?!” Milla yelled at me. I smiled and stepped in front of her. “You are looking for the female Alpha, right? Well... You’ve been looking at her for some time now.” Milla looked confused. “What do you mean? Where is she?” She craned her neck to look inside the ballroom, trying to figure out who the female Alpha was amongst the guests. How stupid, I thought. I kept smiling calmly at her. “Well... Here I am. I am exactly the female Alpha that you’ve been looking for.”
