Chapter 2

Chloe's face turned pale. Before she could react, a voice came from behind the curtain. "Ethan, come over. Which veil looks better?" Chloe, recovering from the shock of seeing Ethan, looked at him. "Do you want me to ask your fiancée if she knows you're a two-faced playboy?" Ethan flashed a smirk, slowly stood up, and retorted, "You're still as eloquent as ever." Chloe's expression stiffened. In the past, whenever Ethan couldn't argue with her, he would use the phrase 'eloquent" to cover up. "Ethan?" The voice from the other side sounded again. Ethan's eyes showed a hint of impatience, but eventually, he turned and walked back. Before leaving, he glanced at Chloe with an unreadable expression. "The size is too small." Chloe almost instantly clutched her chest. Ethan's unexpected appearance was a surprising twist. After he left, Chloe continued to try on several wedding dresses and finally settled on a strapless fishtail gown. After finishing, Evelyn drove Chloe home. In the car, Evelyn asked with concern, "Are you okay?" Chloe gazed at the passing neon lights outside the window. "He's a jerk, isn't he?" "If he wasn't a jerk, why would so many women love him?" Evelyn gripped the steering wheel and said slowly. The voice was too low for Chloe to catch. Back at home, Chloe looked at the decorative photos on the wall, lost in thought for a moment. In the past, she had fantasized countless times about a wedding with Ethan... Shaking off thoughts of Ethan, she hardened her resolve and blocked out everything related to him as she entered the bathroom. Seeing the ring hanging around her neck in the mirror, her gaze darkened for a moment. She and Ethan would have no more connection. The next day, Chloe got up early, did a quick tidy-up, and left the house. Recently, she took on a commission to paint a mural for a highly popular bar. The sketch had been approved, and today, she was ready to start the official work. With this project, she could earn at least a hundred thousand, helping to pay off a significant portion of the debts at home. At the bar, just as Chloe was about to get started, she was suddenly interrupted. "Miss Hollis, our boss would like you to come over." The bar's server pointed to the man at the counter. Chloe looked over, her expression subtly changing. Ethan? This bar belongs to him? As she approached, Ethan lazily smiled. "Why are you taking on this kind of job? Didn't Aiden give you any money?" "What do you want?" Chloe ignored the sarcasm in Ethan's words and didn't inquire about how he knew Aiden. "I changed my mind; I want a different style," Ethan changed his expression slightly and said. Chloe frowned. "The sketch has been approved. If you don't want the painting, the deposit won't be refunded." Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Isn't the customer supposed to be your god? I say change, you change. How much extra do you want? Give me an offer." Hearing the offer of more money, Chloe was tempted. "Deal," she said. "What are you going to paint?" Ethan smirked. "How about 'A Wealthy Man Burns the Incense Street'?" This painting told the story of betrayal- a wealthy man, whose fiancée lived on Incense Street, burned the street after discovering her betrayal. Chloe remained unfazed. "Alright, add another fifty thousand." Without looking at Ethan, she turned and walked away. Back home, around 9 in the evening, Aiden's assistant called. "Miss Hollis, Mr. Tinsley got drunk. Can you come pick him up?" "Send me the address, I'll be right over." After hanging up, Chloe went downstairs, got into her car, and left. Upon picking up Aiden, Chloe drove back to his home, Radiance Plaza. While waiting for the elevator, Aiden's hands got a bit inappropriate, roaming around. Chloe wanted to stop him, but her efforts were not forceful enough, making it look like she was welcoming his advances. "Ding," the elevator door opened. Inside was Ethan.
