Chapter 15 Causing a Scene at the Family Dinner
As soon as I said that, the room filled with murmurs and whispers.
Lydia shot a satisfied look at Curtis and pointed at me. "What are you standing around for? Get in the kitchen and make us some food."
I crossed my arms, smiling at her with just a hint of mockery. "The Jenning family is big and powerful. Are you really telling me there isn't a chef in the house? Or did you get me here to play maid?"
Lydia's eyes flashed in surprise before she frowned. "What nonsense are you spouting? I just thought you could showcase a little skill in front of everyone. How does that make you the maid?"
Curtis sized me up with disbelief and scorn. "So now, as my sister's househusband, you think you can defy my mom? What's next—planning to walk all over her in a few more years?"
