Chapter 74
The two kids looked at me nervously, too scared to come over.
I took two lollipops out of my bag, squatted down, and waved at them. The kids swallowed hard and slowly walked over. Then, they hesitated, looking at Jason.
Jason nodded. "Remember, you shouldn't take candy from strangers, but these lollipops are from Ms. Sutton. She'll be with us for a month, helping out and having fun with you all!"
The little girl with a limp took the candy and thanked me. "Thank you, miss!"
The boy beside her tightly held onto her and kept eyeing me warily, especially when he saw Beanie.
The girl spoke up, "Vincent can't talk, and he can't hear."
I paused for a moment and used sign language to communicate with the little boy named Vincent Miller, telling him that Beanie wouldn't bite. He was a guide dog.
Vincent looked surprised. He signed back, asking why Beanie was a guide dog.
I replied in sign language, "Because I was blind before."
