Chapter 67
"Take me to the car, Beanie," I instructed while gently shaking the leash in my hand.
Beanie let out a soft howl and slowly led me toward Leonardo's car.
My lack of hesitation probably caught Leonardo off guard. He seemed momentarily stunned before getting in the car himself.
When he saw I had settled into the back seat, his expression darkened slightly. It looked like he felt I was treating him like a chauffeur.
The reason I got into Leonardo's car without a second thought was simple. I was worried about running into Gideon.
Leonardo glanced at me in the rearview mirror before starting the engine. Then, he asked, "Samuel gave you this dog, didn't he?"
I didn't respond. From the rear-view mirror, I could tell he wasn't angry at my silence.
