Amelia, who was still holding me, overheard Samuel's comment. I saw her eyes widen in disbelief, and then she turned as if she was about to march over and confront him.
I quickly grabbed her hand and shook my head. In my previous life, Amelia had been targeted in retaliation for standing up for me, and I didn't want her to go through that again.
