Chapter 37
A few days ago, Harrison had sent someone multiple times to remind Josh to prepare for the award ceremony in the county. Because of that, Oliver had even taken him to buy a new outfit.
They had also mentioned that the county might reward him with several thousand dollars. If Josh was willing, he could set up a shop in town to sell sandwiches.
But now, everything that had been promised was gone, and the reward had been reduced to just 200 dollars.
If that were all, it might be bearable, but the Tate family had never achieved much. Oliver had been boasting in the village about how extraordinary his son was and how highly regarded he was by the county.
Now that the boasting was done, he didn't know how to face them. He had just spent a long time asking the distillery worker about the situation.
Finally, he learned that it was because Josh's academic performance didn't meet expectations. It seemed that this had upset the county officials, leading to the cancellation of the rewards.
