William asked, "You don't like it?"
He wondered what part of him had rubbed her the wrong way.
There was no conflict between them when Unknown had just arrived in Chadron.
When he first met her as Valentina, they were both polite yet probing, each harboring their own ulterior motive. William couldn't help but scoff when he recalled those early days.
But generally speaking, their interactions were rather pleasant.
Valentina said, "Too serious."
William ventured, "You don't like serious people?"
Valentina glanced at him. "It's none of your business because you're just pretending to be serious."
William was helpless and chuckled fondly, "The building has been rebuilt stronger than before. If you want to blow it up again, you'll need a bigger charge."
"I never used small charges when I blow things up."
William nodded slightly, his smile deepening. "But..."
