Lay Motionlessly on the Ground
In the distance thrived prosperity, beneath the feet lay ruins.
The slum was shrouded in endless nights. Despite the high population density, the lights in front of the houses were sparse, with most inhabitants having closed their doors early.
Riddled with run-down and crisscrossed pathways, garbage could be found everywhere, and the deep dark gutters reeked with the stench of excrement.
The little boy, dragging his mismatched shoes, walked past each house, his freshly washed hands tightly clutching the two chocolate biscuits he bought from the market.
One shoe suddenly fell off, causing him to stumble.
He didn't want to lose these badly needed good shoes.
So he stopped, his little foot reaching out backward and hooking back his shoe. He glanced fearfully over his shoulder.
Upon seeing the weapon in the man's hand, he gripped the chocolate biscuits even tighter, filled with absolute dread.
He continued on, dragging his shoe.
The footsteps echoed crisply.
