Chapter 9
Gilbert adored his daughter, and he would never allow anyone to hurt her.
He approved of Vincent because he trusted him. Upon hearing Ariana's words, he subconsciously thought it was that boy's fault.
Ariana quickly interrupted Gilbert, covering up by saying, "That's not it. I don't have any disputes with Vincent. He loves me, we're doing fine."
"Really?" Gilbert squinted, looking skeptical. "Sweetheart, you mustn't lie to us because of that boy. Your father will always have your back. You'll always be my precious girl."
My precious girl...
Tears welled up in Ariana's eyes at these words.
In her previous life, her father had said the same thing to her with the same gravity. But, not long after, her parents were tragically perished in the fire. At that time, she was so stupid that she relied on Vincent as her only support and even gave up all the shares of the Thomas family.
She quickly hid her tears, took her father's hand, and said coquettishly, "What I fear is that once I have a husband, you will no longer love me. It's always said that a married daughter is like spilled water."
"Foolish child, you are our precious girl. We will always stand by your side." Gilbert looked at his growing daughter, his heart filled with reluctance to let her go. "Even if you are married, you will always be our daughter."
Ariana forced back her grief and buried herself in her father's arms. With her voice slightly choked, she managed to say, "Yes, I will always be your precious daughter."
Protecting the White family, leaving Vincent and Jane with no place to be buried, and make them experience the pain that she felt when she lost her parents.
Now the first step is to have him voluntarily break off the engagement.
At this moment, her phone rang. It was an unknown number.
"Hello." Ariana answered.
"You filthy witch, home-wrecker, how dare you steal my man? If you are so desperate for a man, find a gigolo! Stay away from mine!"
The sound on the other end was muffled and filled of curses.
If not for the good soundproofing of the phone, these words would have been heard by Ariana's father.
With a covert glance, Ariana quickly moved the phone to her left side, taking a few steps away before whispering, "You've dialed the wrong number."
"No, I didn't. Aren't you Ariana? B****, I'm going to tell... hey, Lambert..."
After some noisy dispute—
"Miss White, I am your promised man."
With an amiable and playful tone, the man did not incite impatience from Ariana. Making sure her father wasn't in sight, Ariana moved a bit further away with the phone and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Nothing, just wanted to tell you about my current situation." Lambert's voice was casual and nonchalant. After a few moments pause, he slowly said, "I have quite a few women around me now. If you want to marry me, you'll have to come over and handle these women."
After saying this, he added: "Don't forget, that's one of the responsibilities of a wife."
What a despicable man.
Ariana frowned, staring at her already hung-up phone in confusion. Eventually, she hailed a taxi to Lambert's villa.
As soon as she reached the villa, Ariana found a pool party underway, with a crowd of attractive men and women swaying to the pulsating music.
Looking out of place, Ariana drew the focus of everyone the moment she entered. No one could figure out what was she doing here. Unfazed by the multifarious gazes, she walked towards the poolside.
As expected, the man who called her was embracing a hot woman and didn’t miss the chance to whistle at her when he saw her.
