DAPHNE'S POV
I stumbled through the woods, my mind a whirlwind of torment. The pain from the night before was an ever-present companion, gnawing at me with every step. Memories of Javion sparing Saxera played like a cruel loop in my head.
How could he do that? How could he let the murderer of our child walk free? My tears flowed freely as I walked, my feet moving almost on their own, driven by a mix of despair and determination.
The forest was dense and dark, but the familiar sights and sounds did little to comfort me. It wasn’t the first time I had been on my own, lost and suffering. I had endured hardship before, and I would endure it again. I had to. My only goal now was to keep moving, to escape from the pain and from the memories that weighed me down.
