It was well past midnight, yet he felt none of the usual exhaustion, hunger, or weariness. Instead, he was filled with excitement, anticipation, and a deep sense of longing.

With a smile uncontrollably spreading across his face, Charles could not help but think how surprised she would be to know he was in Willowstown. As the taxi silently glided through the night, an hour later, it came to a smooth stop outside Cloudscape Manor.
Charles paid the fare, stepped out, and entered the residential area.
It was past two o'clock, and the neighborhood was eerily quiet. Making his way to his building, he took the elevator and headed home.
His apartment, spacious and clean, was a comforting sight.
He had given a set of keys to his mother, who occasionally visited. At the same time, some people would regularly come and clean and air the place out.
