He had something to attend to, but he went out of his way to pick her up. Of course, Naomi understood that Sean told Charles, but running back and forth would leave anyone exhausted.

Charles paused slightly. He looked ahead into the night, the lights casting a warm hue in his eyes. He continued, "My grandmother had a sudden cerebral hemorrhage and was rushed to the hospital. She is now in the same hospital as Amelia."
Naomi momentarily halted, her eyebrows furrowing. "Cerebral hemorrhage?"
"Yes."
Naomi tightened her grip on the phone. She looked very serious, even solemn. "What's the situation now?"
Naomi thought Charles urgently needed to leave for some pressing matter. She did not expect it to be a family matter, and, worse, a cerebral hemorrhage. She had heard about it. It comes fast and is very dangerous.
