Chapter 1126
Meanwhile, in the living room, Scott had taken off his coat and draped it over the edge of the sofa. He then sat down in front of the abandoned chess board from the night before. Dean had not touched it at all since Scott left, so it was exactly the same as they had left it.
Scott sank down on the little bench as though he could not hear even a word of Dean and Donna's conversation in the kitchen, as well as Donna's pointed remark.
Instead, he picked up a chess piece, twiddled it in between his fingers, then set it down on the board, just as Dean stepped out of the kitchen with their tea.
The night before, Scott had played white whereas Dean played black, but now, Scott had picked up a black chess piece.
The sight of this was enough to stir the chess fanatic within Dean. He put down Scott's cup on the table next to him. Scott immediately took it from him and muttered, "Thanks, Dad."
