Chapter 12
Joanna had already run over and knocked on his glass, "Sir, sir, can you please give me a ride."
Jensen is not a nosy person, but that terrible experience he had that night gave him no good impression of this girl. He had planned to step on the gas pedal and leave without thinking about it, but at that moment, he was left stunned. Seeing the white hairy thing in her arms, his pupils shrank and suddenly stopped.
The window of the car slipped down slowly, a pair of dark eyes first caught in the eye sockets, and then the deep facial features like a sharp knife. The man in the car wore a navy blue shirt, only unbuttoned at the neckline, and the bulging throat was winding. With a beautiful arc, Joanna met his eyes, her heartbeat sped up. She opened her eyes a little hastily and explained in a low voice, "Sir, can you take me to the XX pet hospital, it is very sick."
Jensen glanced faintly at the weak animal, watching her eyes with aggressive scrutiny, Joanna felt like a naked baby, no privacy was hidden in these eyes, and he was intercepted behind him. In the road behind them, there were loud car horns blaring one after another. She tightened her fingers and just about to speak, suddenly a clear voice from a man came from her ear.
"Get in."
Joanna sat beside the driver with the hair ball in her arms, looking straight ahead, looking calm and relaxed, but her heart was far from being so calm.
There was a faint smell of tobacco in the car and perhaps it caused the cat to be a bit erratic. Although she was not a clever, she wasn’t clumsy, but Joanna didn’t know why, she felt that way in front of the man. There was a wave of awe, just like being criticized by the teacher for misbehaving in class when she was a child. She was indescribably cramped.
The man was obviously not talkative. After putting down the navigation, he drove quietly without even looking at her. Joanna felt that she should say something to ease the atmosphere, but she couldn’t speak. At that time the little cat suddenly became frantic like it was about jumped.
The sharp claws ran across her skin, and Joanna felt a pain that she couldn't help but let go. The cat immediately jumped off and ran towards the back seat.
Joanna quickly turned her head and shouted at it, "Quickly come back."
Hairball ignored her, lowered its head and sniffed on the chair, jumped down again, circling anxiously, and finally suddenly squatted in a corner and stopped moving. Joanna was thinking about what it was doing, and suddenly saw him. A small pool of water stains spread from under its legs.
She turned her head stiffly, and quietly glanced at the rear view mirror, with a little luck in her heart she had hoped that the driver did notice. But when she looked up, she saw a pair of deep eyes in the rear view mirror looking at her faintly.
Joanna's heartbeat stagnated, and her ears became red. She couldn't wait to find a place to hide in. She unfastened her seat belt and apologized, "I'm sorry, I'll clean it up for you."
"Sit down!"
With a violent shout, she froze in fright and looked at him helplessly.
"Fasten your seat belt and someone will clean the car."
Jensen turned the steering wheel with a cold expression. Although his tone was cold, he was not as scary as before.
Joanna lowered his eyes slightly, said "thank you". She tightened her seat belt, and sat there stiffly. For the first time, she felt the unbearable ten minutes of her life.
The car stopped steadily at the door of the pet hospital. Joanna took out several hundred yuan bills from her wallet and handed them to the man while thinking of what to say.
"I don't mean anything else. It took your time and soiled your car. I..."
Boom—
Before she could finish speaking, the man pushed the door and got out of the car. She was left with her hand raised in the air for a while before awkwardly putting it down. She unfastened the seat belt and got out of the car hastily.
Jensen opened the back door and took his coat, putting it on at random. He looked down at the weak cat lying on the seat, He grabbed the fur on the back of its neck and lifted it up.
The cat's limbs were pulled weakly and he hugged it tightly. Like a little sloth, it clung to him. Jensen frowned, and gently squeezed its meat pad. The cat meowed. And with a cry, it fell into his arms.
When Joanna got out of the car, he saw the man standing upright in the cold wind wearing a dark gray trench coat. He was tall and dark, with wide shoulders and long legs, just like a male model walking out of a magazine. But because he was holding a cat in his arms, she suddenly felt a sense of intimacy from him.
She curled her lips and walked over and said sincerely, "Sir, thank you."
When she said that, she wanted to hug the cat in his arms. Jensen squinted his eyes and did not dodge. Instead, the cat clung to his clothes without loosening its claws and Joanna couldn't pull its belly away. The smell of tobacco on the man's body drifted into her nose and the gentle breath blew across her hairline, and she blushed suddenly, inexplicably.
The cat meowed some more.
The cat seemed to be hurt by her pulling and it let out a sorrowful cry. Joanna recovered her senses, retracted her hand and her face was red of embarrassment.
