Chapter74: The Answer

*Mark* When the first light of the day shines through the lace curtains in Rose’s room, she is still asleep, leaning her head on my chest. I know I have to go meet with the other Alphas, but I really don’t want to leave her. I let them know the night before that she is fine using the mind-link. I kiss the top of her head, and her eyes flutter open. “Morning, love,” I whisper groggily, praying I don’t have morning breath. She rubs her face onto my chest, and I wonder if maybe I do, in fact, have morning breath. “Morning,” she answers. “Kelly will be up shortly with your breakfast,” I tell her. She smiles and yawns, making a cute sound. “I guess you have to leave now?” I nod. She tries to sit up, and I help her. “I’ll come and check on you later, baby.” When I finally leave, she’s in the bathroom, freshening up for the day. I fight every urge to join her in the shower.
