Elyse heard the door opening, so she turned toward it. As soon as she saw Charlotte, she broke into a smile. "Sweetheart." "Mom, Daniel is here." With that, Charlotte stepped aside and let Daniel through. For a moment, the sight of Daniel standing before Elyse left her momentarily dazed. Not only was he tall, but he had broad shoulders. He was nothing like the little boy in her memories. Elyse used to take Daniel out for some fun when Sadie was still pregnant. Whenever he got tired of walking, he knew to seek her out. He would put his hands up high and say sweetly, "Mdm. Moore, please carry me." Daniel's voice was so sweet it could make anyone melt for him. He also really enjoyed eating rainbow candy. Whenever the adults weren't looking, he would secretly sneak one. Thinking that he was being clever, Daniel even extended his tongue for the adults to check. Upon noticing his colorful tongue, they held back their laughter and went along with his lie. But that was when Daniel s
