"Has anyone heard from Trevor? It's been three days since he left home," Richard said over lunch on Sunday.
I cared little if the boy never stepped foot back in my house, as he had avowed.
He was more distress than delight to me.
"I've been trying to call him too, but I haven't been able to reach him either," Landon said.
"I'm sure he's fine," Cara, Richard's wife, said. "He mentioned he was going on a trip the last time."
"But he didn't disclose where exactly he was leaving for," Richard said. "It's natural for us to be worried about him."
"Why should we be?" I asked, clearing my throat with a grunt.
They all looked at me.
"He didn't bother to call once over the time he left. Wasn't his departure deliberate? Isn't he intentionally ignoring your calls?"
"He was pissed when he left, Dad. It's only right that we reach out first and make amends as a family," said Richard.
