Chapter Thirty Seven: It Has To Be A Joke

Trevor arrived at the airport in a taxi.
"OMG!" Rachel silently gloated beside me. "He's even more handsome in person."
She had driven me down to the tarmac and would be driving my car back to the company.
The plan was that the car would be there until my arrival from Italy, and she would come to pick me up.
"I was expecting an entourage," I remarked when he was within ear range.
The taxi that had conveyed him to the airport reversed and headed back in the direction it had come from at a brisk pace.
"You may not believe it, but I prefer a less ostentatious lifestyle," he replied.
"I don't believe it." I clucked, drawing my mouth into a tight line, one corner of my cheek cupped.
He didn't make any remark in response to my statement.
Instead, his gaze moved to Rachel beside me.
Rachel eagerly introduced herself, maintaining a semblance of professionalism in her overeager introduction.
"I'm Rachel, Mr. Lawrence. Director Holden's secretary and personal assistant
