Chapter Sixteen: Unmerited Partnership
Chairman Lawrence
I positioned my golf club behind my ball, glancing at the distance I aimed to target one last time and swung.
The golf ball shot into the distance, flying through the air.
"Yes!" I grabbed my fist in the air, holding the club in the other hand, as my ball rolled directly into the hole.
Chairman Holden clapped from where he was standing, laughing. "You still got your skills intact."
I turned to him, smiling as well. "I'm glad they haven't diminished since retirement." I raised the club higher above the ground, resting it over my shoulder.
"It reminds me of the old days," Chairman Holden said, waxing nostalgic.
I nodded in agreement.
We began to move towards the refreshment area. A bottle of water was extended to each of us, and we both drank our fill, handing it back.
We sat on the canopied chairs, admiring the view ahead.
We sat in silence for a few minutes before Chairman Holden broke the ensuing silence. "How's Trevor doing?"
