Chapter Ten: Scathing Sentence

Trevor Cutlery clinked against silver dishes as we had dinner. Grandpa raised a glass of water to his mouth and drank from it. Then, he set the cup down with a firm thud on the table. I paused briefly in my attempt to raise my spoon to my mouth, aware of what would come next. The atmosphere was tense. That was always the case with Grandpa around, and the old man was rarely ever absent. He was too cranky and irritable.
