I looked closely at the woman lying unconscious and managing to breathe on the hospital bed, her daughter holding her hands, supportively while her own eyes were scared and frantic.
There was my family. My real family.
Suzy was right. She had always been with Miranda through everything. And this moment was enough to prove her words to me. The responsibility I thought I had on my back, she also experienced the same.
I pitied her. The little girl who stood by her mother through it all. Who decided to keep me safe because of her mother's unstable mental health. That little girl was now all grown and still bore the burden of looking after her mother. It is as though she was on this unpleasant Ferris wheel ride that never ends and only kept repeating itself in circles.
She was right. I would never understand the shits she had been through. I could never be in her shoes. I could never be her because if I tried to, I would only break.
