CHAPTER 72
The next morning, Jojo visited as early as 8 am and I did not know why I was surprised by her visit. Maybe it was because I didn't expect she would still want to see me after everything that happened in the hospital. Connor had let her into the house before he left to get groceries at the store and because my door was left unlocked because, according to Connor, I wasn't strong enough to attend to the door, I had asked whosoever was knocking to come in. I had been a little taken aback when it turned out to be Jojo.
"Hi," I whispered, breaking the awkward silence between the both of us.
"Hi." She finally walked in with a brown oil-stained paper food bag in her hand. She had a backpack over her back and I knew she was on her way to school. She dropped the paper bag on the side table and she leaned before me. "May I?" She asked, and I traced her eyes to the direction of my wound under my shirt. I nodded and cautiously lifted the shirt to expose my bandaged abdomen.
