A soft knock on the door made her sit up straighter. "Come in," she called, trying to keep her voice steady. Mr. Davidson entered, his usual nervous energy somewhat subdued. He took his seat across from Joan, his eyes darting around the room before finally settling on her face. "Good afternoon, Mr. Davidson," Joan said warmly. "How are you feeling today?"
