Still, something didn't add up. "Liam, if she's not upstairs, then how do you explain my employee's phone and voice?"
Before Liam could respond, Chuck's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, and his face shifted slightly. "It's Erwin."
Chuck suddenly remembered Erwin's earlier instructions—"don't say anything unnecessary, don't ask what you shouldn't." Yet here he was, having stirred up a mess.
Knowing he was in the wrong, Chuck quickly answered the call.
Liam's eyes also turned toward him. Since Erwin had arranged for the woman, he probably knew more about her.
"Chuck, the issue with the project—is it resolved?" Erwin's deep, steady voice came through the phone.
"Uh, it's... resolved... I guess?" Chuck was still confused, not entirely sure.
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, then Erwin's voice dropped to a whisper as he shifted to a seemingly unrelated matter. "Make sure to buy your team leader a new phone."
