Is She the Girl You're Going to Marry?

"What?" "I'm thirsty!" "Well..." Elizabeth Liang looked at the cup in her hand and sighed. "Would you like some?" James Lu looked at the cup and curled his lips in disgust. "Not from a cup like that!" “......” Elizabeth felt bewildered. He wasn't nearly this bad in the day, at least not that crabby. Why was he suddenly throwing childish tantrums out of nowhere? "Do you want to drink it or not?" "What do you think?" Why the hell would she care?? Elizabeth took a few deep breaths to suppress the strong urge to splash the water onto his face.. Looking at her aggrieved and slightly cross expression, James humphed and closed his eyes in satisfaction. "Jimmy!" Elizabeth was still speechless when a middle-aged woman suddenly entered the ward. She rushed to the bed with a worried face. "Do you feel better?" James opened his eyes and looked at the woman with resignation. Then he couldn't help but quietly grind his teeth. "God damn it Isaac Bai!" Elizabeth recalled Isaac's words and guessed that this woman was probably James's mother. She was wearing Chanel's newest spring tweed suit, a pair of sandals from the same set, and her long black hair was styled in a beautiful updo. She looked refined and elegant. Her skin was well maintained, delicate and fair, like she was only around thirty-six or seven years old. "Don't blame Isaac. If it weren't for him I would still be in the beauty salon right now, with no idea what happened to you!" As she said this, James's mother Lydia Song poked at his head. "Does it hurt?" James hissed from the pain and cocked his head. "Are you trying to murder me, mom?" Lydia chuckled. "Looks like you're fine, if you're yelling so loudly." "..." Speechless, James rolled his eyes. "But how did you end up like this?" "Ask her." James pointed to Elizabeth who stood aside. Lydia followed his finger and only just now noticed that there was a person standing next to her. "Oh, and you are?" Then she exclaimed, "Oh dear, your forehead is injured too?" "Madam..." Elizabeth was extremely embarrassed. "I'm sorry... Mr. Lu was hurt because of me..." She was hesitant to speak. After all, this was the mother of the man who had promised to marry her. That was to say, if she admitted the truth, however tactfully she did it, it was definitely going to pose a problem for their future relationship. "A pervert was hitting on her. Do I have to say the rest, mom?" He was basically saying that he came to her rescue, and that the injury wasn't her fault. Elizabeth looked at James, who was clearly helping her out, with a stunned expression and didn't know how to react for a moment. She thought that he would eagerly talk about how she had smashed his head, and didn't expect him to help her at all. However, if his mother knew that her son was the pervert that he was talking about, how would she react? "Jimmy, oh... I am so proud of you!" Smiling, Lydia pictured in her head her son dashingly saving a damsel in distress. She turned to look at Elizabeth. When she saw the marks on Elizabeth's neck, as someone who has been in the same place, she immediately understood. Lydia pointed at Elizabeth's face and happily asked James, "Is... is she the girl you're going to take home for me and your father to meet? The girl you're marrying?" "Who said..." James was about to refute her, when he suddenly remembered and nodded silently. Elizabeth's whole body was tensed up. After seeing James nod, she finally let out a sigh of relief. She was so scared that he would deny that in front of his mother. With James's silent confirmation, Lydia squinted her eyes in joy. She grabbed Elizabeth's hand and looked her up and down. "You're so pretty! What's your name, miss?" Elizabeth looked at James and saw that he had nothing to say. So she answered Lydia, "My name is Elizabeth, madam." "I see!" Lydia nodded. Looking at Elizabeth's neck, she frowned slightly. "Say, Jimmy, don't be so rough on her. How embarrassing is it for Elizabeth to walk outside like this!" "Ahem..." James was a little flustered. "Well, I'm glad to see that you're alright. I'll go now, I have to go back and tell your dad about this, so I'll leave you two lovebirds to it." Lydia pulled Elizabeth over to sit beside the bed. "When Jimmy's all better, you can come to our house with him. I'll make you something delicious. You're too skinny." Lydia touched Elizabeth's face as she said this. "Lydia, can you even cook? Besides, shouldn't you cook for me?" James said flippantly. "I have Auntie Chang! Humph! Of course there'll be something for you, since you've finally found a wife!"
