Chapter 471
Liam didn’t say anything for a while and then he pulled another picture out of his wallet and slid it across the table. “This is me and my mum,” he said.
Jonathon looked at the other photograph and his lungs seized in his chest. The woman staring back at him was someone he never thought he would ever see again. He tried to push away from the table, but the booth seating held him captive. He slid to the side, standing from the booth and running a hand through his hair as his traitorous gaze kept returning to the woman who had abandoned him and his father for greener pastures.
“You know her,” Liam said with a resigned sigh.
“No,” he said, shaking his head. “She never gave me the chance to know her. She left. I was a kid and she left.”
“What?” Liam looked at him like he was speaking a foreign language.
“That is my mother,” Jonathon said, his voice hard. “She walked out on us when I was little. She left us for another man. She left us for a man with more money.”
