Chapter 14
Isobel looked at her in shock.
She didn't expect that they would try every means to call her back.
She looked at Mollie for a long time and suddenly laughed in a low voice.
"Do you mean that I should be the stepping stone for the two of them to announce their relationship?"
Mollie's face darkened with displeasure. "What are you talking about? You did this not only for your sister, but also for you!"
After a pause, she added, "you are a girl after all. You will get married in the future. Is it good to be known that you are abandoned and spread out?"
"What if I refuse?"
"It's up to you! I've made up my mind! It's not up to you!"
"What if I can't insist?"
Mollie sneered and cast a scornful glance at her.
"You won't refuse, unless... You don't want the things left by your mother anymore."
There was a moment of silence in the restaurant, as if a falling needle could be heard.
Isobel suddenly stood up from the chair.
Her face turned blue and she stared at her coldly.
After a long time, she sneered.
"Good! Very good! You can threaten me for a while, but you can't threaten me for a lifetime!"
"It's enough to threaten you for a while."
Mollie seemed not to be angry with her and put down the chopsticks calmly.
"Eight o'clock in the evening the day after tomorrow. Grand Emperor Hotel. Don't be late."
……
It was already eight o'clock in the evening when Isobel came out of the West family.
The wind in late autumn made her feel cold, but it still couldn't blow away the anger in her heart.
She always knew that Mollie had a preference for Barbara, but she didn't know how much.
She didn't even bother to pretend to be a grandmother. She just threatened Barbara with her mother's belongings?
It was ridiculous!
Standing by the road, Isobel was angry for a while and soon calmed down.
Back then, her mother, Sylvia, had an accident. Before the accident, she had entrusted a lawyer to make a will.
The content of the will was very simple. She had a safe in the bank. If she died one day, all the things in the safe would belong to Isobel.
The only condition was that she had to wait until she got married, and before that, there would be a professional lawyer to keep it for her.
Isobel didn't know why his mother made such a will, nor did he know what was in the safe.
However, in the past few years, the West family had tried several times to persuade her to give up the inheritance.
Of course she wouldn't be willing to do that. Not to mention the value of the thing inside, it was impossible for anyone else to take it away from her mother's belongings.
But in this way, she felt that the thing inside must be not simple.
Otherwise, it was impossible for the West family to be so jealous of it just because of the wealth of the family.
While she was thinking, the black Audi drove past her and stopped in front of the door of the West family.
Isobel was in a trance for a moment, and the next second, she heard a familiar male voice.
"Isobel? Why are you here?"
Isobel turned to look at Lewis, who had just gotten off the car. In an Armani dark blue suit, he looked tall and energetic.
With a mocking smile, she said in a cold voice, "Mr. Gill, you must have forgotten my family name."
Lewis was stunned and his face was stiff.
Of course, he wouldn't forget that Isobel's surname was West. Strictly speaking, this place was also her home.
However, she had severed the relationship with the West family all these years and had never come back. She was naturally surprised to see her here today.
Isobel's cold words didn't push Lewis back.
He said seriously, "you're here. I have something to ask you. Where did you go last night? Why didn't I answer my phone?"
Isobel's eyes twinkled.
Last night, Lewis did call her several more times, but she didn't hear anything when she was with Nathan.
She saw it this morning, but she didn't want to talk to it.
After all, it was not appropriate for her to care about him or scold him according to their current relationship.
Thinking of this, she scratched her hair and replied lazily, "Lewis, who do you think you are?"
Lewis was stunned. "What?"
"Why do I have to answer your phone?"
Lewis was stunned for a while and finally understood what she meant. He flew into a rage.
"Isobel! Don't be so ungrateful! I'm caring about you!"
"Oh? You care about me so much. Barbara, do you know that?"
She raised her eyebrows and looked at him with a faint smile.
Lewis's face changed slightly. He was angry, but he couldn't say a word.
At this moment, a clear and sweet voice came from the door of the villa.
“Lewis!”
