Chapter 11
"Barbara, I didn't mean that."
Lewis stopped her and said in a deep voice, "I mean we should have made it clear to her earlier. We shouldn't have been delayed just because we couldn't bear to hurt her. Now you are wronged. It's my fault."
Barbara was touched and looked at him gratefully. "Lewis..."
"Ahem!"
With a slight cough, Mollie looked at Lewis with a smile.
"Mr. Gill, now that things have come to this, you have seen the public opinion on the Internet. It is impossible to change the big thing into a small thing. What do you think about the current situation?"
Lewis's face darkened. Barbara clenched her fists nervously.
"Matriarch West, don't worry. I won't let Barbara continue to be wronged. After we go back, I will ask someone to issue a statement to announce my relationship with Barbara."
Mollie's face lit up.
Sienna and Ollie were also excited, except for Barbara, whose weak eyes showed a trace of worry.
"But people outside all know that you are engaged. Will they believe us?"
Lewis held her hand and explained, "although everyone knows that I'm engaged, few people know who my fiancee is. So I just want to tell them that the engagement is made with you. You're my fiancee, so no one will say anything."
Only then did Barbara show a hint of joy.
But the next second, she frowned again.
"But sister..."
"Don't worry. I'll talk to your sister."
Mollie said in a commanding tone.
"Mr. Gill doesn't need to be announced on the Internet, in case of unnecessary trouble. Isn't it Barbara's birthday the day after tomorrow? Invite several reporters to hold a party and announce it on her birthday."
Lewis nodded, "Okay, I'll listen to Matriarch West."
"You can also go back and discuss with your parents about it. After all, it's related to marriage, so it's not appropriate to make decisions on your own."
"Don't worry. They have agreed. My parents also like Barbara."
"That's good." Mollie finally felt relieved. "Stay and have lunch together!"
Lewis stood up and said, "no, Matriarch West. I have something to deal with in the company. I'll bother you next time."
"Mr. Gill is young and promising. In that case, I won't keep him."
Mollie looked at Barbara, who was sitting next to her, and said, "Barbara, please drive Mr. Gill home."
Barbara stood up obediently, "yes."
Seeing Barbara and Lewis walk out of the door, Mollie's face darkened.
Taking back her smile, she looked at Ollie who was sitting on the left and said in a low voice, "call your cold hearted daughter and ask her to come back tonight."
"Yes, sir," replied Ollie
……
Isobel hung up the phone after talking with someone on the phone.
But as soon as she hung up the phone, it rang again.
She was stunned. Looking at the two words on the phone screen, she frowned slightly.
In an instant, she didn't even have the appetite to eat.
She picked it up and said coldly, "Dad."
"You know I'm your father!"
Ollie's roar came through the phone. Isobel couldn't help but take the phone away from her ear.
Finally, she put it on the table and put it on speaker.
"What's up?"
"When did you come back?"
She lowered her eyelids and replied indifferently, "why do you ask this?"
"How dare you say that? You didn't even inform me when you came back. Do you still care about me as your father? And do you still have this family?"
Isobel sneered, "Mr. West, if I remember correctly, I called you when I came back."
Ollie was stunned.
After a while, she asked uncertainly, "when did you call me? Why don't I remember?"
Isobel smiled ironically.
Ollie didn't pay much attention to Barbara since she came back home. She knew that.
But he didn't expect that she would be so indifferent that she even forgot to call him when she came back.
What was more ridiculous was that she came to question why she didn't inform him when she came back?
Obviously, Ollie also realized her mistake and felt a little embarrassed.
"Well, the company has expanded its business in the past two years. I'm so busy all day that I might have forgotten it. As your daughter, can't you understand your father? You've been back for so long, but you didn't go home to see him. What do you think?"
Isobel didn't want to argue with him anymore and asked coldly, "what on earth do you want?"
"I..." Ollie was irritated by her cold tone, but when she thought of her temper, she controlled her anger.
"Your grandmother asked you to come back for dinner tonight!"
"No."
"What are you talking about? After all, you are the member of the West family. What's wrong with asking you to come back for a meal? Do you want me to invite you in person?"
Isobel said with a cold smile, "the person who doesn't remember to ask me to go home for dinner on every festival suddenly asked me to go home. I'm afraid that the food will be poisoned to death with mouse poison."
