When Christopher walked in, Adeline didn't look at him or wait for him to speak. She simply tilted her chin slightly and said, "Chop it off."
Christopher's gaze shifted from the sharp knife to Adeline's emotionless face. He raised an eyebrow. "Hmm?"
Adeline lifted her eyelids and curled her lips into a mocking smile. "Mr. Lambert, your memory isn't great, is it?"
Her eyes shifted to his hand, where he had put the ring back on. "I remember telling you I'd chop off your hand if the day ever came when you took off this ring. The knife is ready."
She sneered. "Mr. Lambert, which one are you planning to chop off?"
Her expression was serious, leaving no doubt she wasn't joking.
Christopher crouched in front of her and calmly placed his left hand on the coffee table. He arched an eyebrow and smirked. "Your choice."
The playful glint in his eyes made Adeline see nothing but a lack of seriousness—just like when he had given her the ring and said those words.
