The moment their gazes met, Adeline's eyes showed indifference and even a glint of mockery. Her eye rims were red, but they held no sadness.
Christopher met her eyes and furrowed his brows. "Why are you here? Didn't you go home?"
Adeline took a deep breath and sorted her emotions before walking in confidently.
She glanced at Christopher briefly, her tone calm. "You said you were at the company."
