The snakelet didn't like living this way. When he grew up a little more, he would have to start going to school to learn how to read and write. After that, he'd have to study the Coalition's culture.

Herkoen stood there, his expression grim. "Barefoot?"
The maid who had chased him out fell to her knees in fear. "Mr. Herkoen, he suddenly ran out, and I... I didn't have time to put shoes on him."
