Chapter 52: Lory Shows Signs of Waking Up
Gina's hands shook with rage as she jabbed Emma's number into her phone. How dare that ungrateful girl sell the family home right from under her? The ringing felt interminable until, finally, Emma's voice came through the line.
"Hello? Who is this?" Emma asked, sounding slightly wary.
Gina didn't bother with pleasantries. "You evil little snake! How could you sell your father's house? I just got thrown out on the street by police like some common criminal!" she screamed into the phone.
There was a pause, and then Emma let out a cold laugh that raised the hairs on the back of Gina's neck. "That home doesn't belong to my father. It was my mother's house that she left to me when she passed away."
Gina froze, Emma's words not making any sense. Lory's late ex-wife had owned that mansion? But...how?
