CHAPTER 73

Outside the fortress... Ives and his men came to a pause, as they were surrounded by demons. The air was thick with the stench of sulfuric acid and burning flesh. It had been too long since Ives had seen such things. He looked over at the other members of his crew for any sign of unease or distress. However, their expressions remained blank. No one moved from the shadows. He signaled them to stay quiet, as it seemed like the demons where trying to make out where they where, as they were hidden in the shadows. After a moment the demons over head, seem to have flown off, making them sigh in relief. Ives signaled them to move on, as they tried making their way through the burnt dead bodies which were sprawled on the cave's ground. They followed a trail of blood that led deeper into the caves' mouth. They passed what appeared to be hundreds of human skulls, and bones, littered around the floor and walls of the cavern.
