Tessa stared at Maeve with her breath held tight. Maeve lifted her eyes to Liam's and said, "You're right. It was deliberate." The realization that Maeve's actions were intentional made Liam's eyes narrow with danger. Maeve continued, "The jewelry you gave me was far too valuable. Mr. Larson, you had a fiancée before, and it wouldn't be right for me to wear it. "I intended to pretend I forgot it, but Tessa was too naïve. She insisted on bringing it to me.
