Chapter 813
On the ship, Maeve's breathing grew more strained as a searing heat spread through her body. She could even feel her heartbeat thundering in her ear.
Desperate, she stumbled out of bed and made her way to the bathroom to splash cold water on her face. But even the icy sea breeze cutting through the ship couldn't extinguish the fire raging inside her.
Maeve's vision slowly blurred, and her mind drifted in and out of focus. The world around her doubled, and her legs threatened to give out beneath her.
"If you don't return by midnight, you'll have to endure this living hell every single day. Don't blame me for being cruel—this is the gentlest way I deal with traitors."
Liam's voice echoed in her mind as she collapsed to the floor, writhing in pain. It wasn't long before it felt like thousands of ants were devouring her from the inside out.
"Do you know how many people die from drugs each year? Betray me, and I'll make sure your death is just as agonizing."
Maeve curled up in agony.
