Maeve turned just as Liam pressed something into her hand.
His movement was so quick she didn't even catch a glimpse of what it was.
Before she could ask, Liam said, "Don't open it until you get to Laventon. If anything goes wrong, this might just save your life."
Feeling confused, Maeve glanced at the small cloth pouch.
But as she started to loosen the drawstring, Liam's hand shot out to grip it tight.
"I said, not until Laventon," he repeated.
Liam's tone was so serious that Maeve decided not to argue. "Alright, I'll wait until I get to Laventon. Feeling reassured now?"
"Yeah."
Maeve went upstairs along with the pouch Liam had given her.
She didn't have much to prepare for the trip to Laventon.
Thinking back to the last time she had gone there with Zion, Maeve shook her head, trying to push away the thoughts of him.
But the more she tried, the more memories of their time together surfaced.
Back then, Zion had taken care of everything—she only needed to entrust herself
