Just then, Maeve stepped out of her room to look for Zion.
But as she reached the guest room, she saw Wilfred standing in the doorway and shaking his head with a sigh.
Maeve froze. "What's going on? Is it serious?"
Wilfred sighed deeply in response.
Maeve's expression tightened. "Don't tell me… is something wrong with Liam? Even you couldn't help him?"
No wonder Liam had seemed so lively earlier—it was probably just his last spark of energy.
"It's not that I can't treat Liam. "It's just… I feel bad for him."
"Why?"
Wilfred sighed and glanced at the bed where Liam lay, unconscious and pale. "Meeting Zion… this poor guy's had it rough."
Maeve hadn't yet pieced it together, but an uneasy feeling twisted in her stomach as she walked into the guest room and saw Zion seated nearby.
"What… did you do to Liam?"
"Nothing much," Zion said.
He glanced at Liam sprawled on the bed. "Just had Wilfred do something so he can't get out of bed for a while."
"For… a while?"
