However, Maeve had already draped her arms around Zion's neck. She even gave Liam a small wave before leaving with him.
Downstairs, Sabrina glanced at Serena's lifeless body sprawled in a pool of blood. After a brief pause, she stepped forward.
At the sight of her old friend's mangled face, she tore the black veil from her gown hem and gently draped it over Serena's face.
For the longest time, she'd thought of Serena as her one true friend—even though she had now realized that Serena had never felt the same.
But what good would it do to hold on to resentment? It would have only dragged her down.
After wiping away her tears, Sabrina silently followed Zion and Maeve out of the venue.
Liam stared at their retreating figure, and his irritation bubbled to the surface. "So, that's it? They leave me here to clean up this mess by myself? Is this even real?"
"Mr. Larson, this doesn't seem right. Maybe we should—" Matteo began.
