Maeve lowered her head to tuck the share transfer contract into her bag. She had a pretty good idea why Joanna had come today, though she hadn't expected her to take the whole Hector incident so well.
For someone with morals that weren't precisely sterling, Joanna sure had some self-control.
Then again... neither of them were morally superior saints.
"Ms. Scott, should we head back?"
Maeve glanced at the two henchmen trailing her. They looked on edge, practically trembling, like they expected the two musclebound guys from earlier to storm back at any moment.
Sure, they were henchmen—but they knew better than to pick a fight with guys that big.
"Let's go," Maeve said while getting to her feet.
The henchmen fell in step beside her and escorted her to the car. Just as Maeve reached the door, she spotted a dark figure in the distance and frowned.
One of the henchmen noticed and asked,"Ms. Scott, is there something wrong? Aren't you getting in?"
"Check the car."
