William's words lingered in the air. "I don't know. It just feels like you're giving me something sweet right before taking it all away."
She gave him a pointed look, leaning against the seat. "That's your hallucination. I never meant to leave, plus why would I leave when I'm comfortable here? Could it be because of you?"
If she didn't like someone, there were countless ways to cut them out of her life. Packing up and running away wasn't necessary.
"Even if, one day, I stopped liking you—if I wanted nothing to do with you—I wouldn't leave. I'd just make sure our lives never crossed again."
She smiled softly.
