"Linda, I feel like I've come to my senses a bit too late." William's words caught Linda off guard for a moment.
Was it really too late for him to realize? Perhaps it was, but the fact that he had woken up at all meant it wasn't entirely in vain. At least things hadn't reached the worst possible conclusion yet.
"At least you've come to your senses now and didn't stay in denial your whole life," she responded.
Truthfully, Linda was quite content with how her relationship with William was progressing. They were steadily moving forward, heading in a positive direction, and that was what mattered most.
As long as things were improving, nothing else really posed a problem.
The two of them continued walking, chatting as they scrolled and occasionally paused to take in their surroundings. By the time they returned to the spot where the car was parked, more than two hours had passed.
