Luke tried to find an excuse for his slip. Just as he was about to speak, William suddenly said, "What do you mean, Mr. Hunter?"
"I thought I made myself very clear," Luke quipped, having already recomposed himself. He was back to his nonchalant self.
Stroking the display case, he continued, "Having a crush on Linda is my business—it doesn't matter if my feelings aren't reciprocated. So what if she's married? If I succeed, I don't mind becoming her third husband."
William stared at her, clearly not believing a word he said. He knew Linda wasn't that kind of person; she was cautious in how she conducted herself, especially when it came to relationships.
Besides, she already had a child with Samson. With their child as the bond between them, a divorce was very unlikely. Even if things got tough, she would eventually trudge through it for the sake of her child.
