Chapter 4

The whole ordeal caught everyone’s attention. Many stood around to watch what was going on. The security guards rushed over and assumed Yvonne to be a waitress because of her plain clothes. Because the hotel was an exclusive and high-class venue, they did not bother to clarify the situation before dragging Yvonne out of the hall. Tina was immediately rushed to the hospital due to the spicy gravy in her eyes. Fiona had gravy splattered on her evening gown, and there was a clear handprint on her face from the slap. Jackson rushed over to Fiona when he heard the news. He was shocked to see the state that Fiona was in. “What happened?” Fiona was afraid of how Jackson would react upon hearing about Yvonne, but she could not hide it now. She cried out to Jackson, “Jackson, I saw Ms. Yates just now. She was working as a waitress here. I don’t know why, but she poured juice all over Tina and me on purpose. Then she went crazy on us when Tina teased her a little. She threw food at Tina and slapped me on my face…” Jack was shocked to hear the story. He looked around for Yvonne, but she was not in sight. Fiona cried some crocodile tears. “I was lucky to only have stains on my dress and a slap on my face, but Tina had spicy gravy in her eyes. Ms. Yates was ready to attack me, but thankfully Tina stopped her!” Jackson looked at her pitiful face with a blank expression. He reached out to pat Fiona on the shoulder as she wiped her tears away. He asked coldly, “Where is she?” “She was taken away by the security guards!” “Let’s go take a look!” As Jackson said that, he helped the disheveled Fiona out of the hall. The security guards had taken Yvonne to a small room beside the lounge. They were reprimanding her as they reported the incident to the police. Yvonne sat down on the couch with her head lowered. Her clothes were drenched with wine. She had calmed down after she was dragged out from the hall. She should have swallowed her anger instead of acting on it. It was such a big mess. There was no way Zachary was going to overlook what had happened. That rich heir had a horrible temper, especially for things involving her. All this because Yosef Turner had insisted that Zachary take her in as his assistant. Since then, Zachary had always made her life a living hell and caused trouble for her at any given chance. Surely, he would fire her now that she was involved in such a huge mess. Her heart was still beating fast when the door swung open, bringing in a gust of cold air. Yvonne looked up and saw a pair of familiar eyes looking at her. Yvonne had left the city ever since Jackson sent his lawyer to force her into signing the divorce papers three years ago. She had not seen him since then and had made sure that their paths would never cross again for the rest of her life. Who would have thought that she would meet him again on the very first day she returned to South City? She was embarrassed for him to see her in such a disheveled manner. However, he was indifferent, seeing her in such a state. Just like how kings looked down on their subjects, Jackson looked coldly at her, with one hand wrapped around Fiona’s waist. Was he here to pin the blame on her? Controlling her emotions, Yvonne looked away coldly. He had become a stranger to her now, so there was no need for her to feel sadness or grief if he was just a stranger. Jackson’s expression changed when he noticed Yvonne averting his gaze. He strode into the room with Fiona, and demanded coldly, “Apologize now!” Yvonne pursed her lips and remained quiet. Is he asking her to apologize to his mistress? What did she do wrong anyway? He must be dreaming! The expression on Jackson’s face became serious when he noticed that she was not going to say anything. “Yvonne Yates, did you not hear me? I asked you to apologize.” “Apologize? For what? Do you think your word is law, President Miller?” Yvonne asked as she scoffed. “It doesn’t matter if my word is the law. The point is you’ve injured Tina and she requires hospitalization! You’ll need to pay for this!” His threats were obvious. Yvonne knew he was not doing it for Tina, but rather for Fiona to vent her anger. No way was she going to apologize. She said while smiling calmly, “President Miller, you hold a lot of power and are probably used to doing whatever you like. If you want my apology, I guess you’ll get it in your next life!” Jackson felt as if something stabbed his heart as he looked at the apathetic expression on her face and listened to her cold voice. “Alright, don’t blame me if you insist on being this stubborn, Yvonne Yates!” Jackson shot back coldly at Yvonne before he turned to the guards and said, “Have you reported to the police yet?” “Yes!” The guards replied respectfully. “In that case, let the police handle this matter fairly. Let’s see if you will still be this stubborn when you arrive at the police station!”
