A Glimmer of Hope

"Alright, alright." Sebastian nodded eagerly while holding onto a sliver of hope in his heart. Until the guard led him to the sight of Jenny's body, all hope was shattered, along with the last vestiges of blind optimism. Before coming, Sebastian had been wondering if the captain, Isaac Gilbert, was pretending to trick him into confessing. Now, it seemed that everything was real.
