Rejection

Joseph sensed Lucille's dejection and listlessness. A trace of tender concern arose in his deep, dark, and magnetic eyes. He extended his arm to draw Lucille into his embrace, sighing softly, "It won't happen, it won't happen." What wouldn't happen, he did not say.
