Subside

The helicopter was rather empty, save two subordinates and the pilot, who was concentrated on flying the helicopter. Lucille leaned against the window, rays of light landing on her face. She could feel the warmth of the sunlight on her skin, yet her vision remained engulfed in darkness. Each previous episode of blindness, induced by the toxins, would gradually subside after about ten minutes. This time, however, her sight had not returned since yesterday. It implied that she might have truly gone blind. She estimated that her hearing would go next. Blind and soon to be deaf. Would she be able to return to the battlefield like this? It was nothing but a rhetorical question. Lucille simply closed her eyes. It was then that she heard footsteps coming from beside her and sensed someone crouching down in front of her. The familiar aromatic scent reached her nose. Without a doubt, it was Joseph. She opened her eyes. "Do you want to get changed?" asked Joseph. "Sorry, what?" Lucille paused, r
