Shannon snapped back to her senses and said hastily, "My mother's worried that Lily wouldn't be able to get used to living here all alone, Loid, so I'm here to help her move in." She glanced furtively at Loid's face as her heart pounded. He was so handsome—just how she'd imagined her ideal future spouse would look. Loid hummed curtly, then continued with his meal, ignoring her. He served Lily a bowl of soup. Lily looked too thin. He figured she needed more hearty meals. Shannon was furious as she watched Loid treating Lily kindly. She clenched her fists and gri
