Chapter Fifty-Seven - Willow
I slipped from the dining hall after breakfast with a plate of food for Emilia. I hadn’t been down to see her since Chase agreed to let her shower.
I wasn’t sure what the plan was with her or if Chase planned to let her out officially or not. He slipped the key into my back pocket that morning when I asked. He didn’t ask me any questions. He trusted me.
It made me feel more like a Luna than I ever had before.
His trust made me feel complete. Like I’d always needed that in my life. For someone to trust me with important things.
I unlocked the door and walked down the steps with a tray in my hand. Emilia stood on the bench, attempting to look outside the small window above her cell.
It hit my chest like a hammer.
She didn’t deserve to be here in this cell. She’d been shoved into this pack with no say-so. Now she was shoved in our cell with no way out.
“Good morning,” I said.
She jumped down from the bench and walked toward the bars. “Good morning. That smells delicious.”
